There are many generators available on the market today, some are run by gas, diesel and other by which you can even find natural gas generators. Some are portable, others are large, industrial-sized generators designed to support the extensive systems, some are designed for agricultural use, and others can be towed by a truck at a workplace. One popular type of generator are diesel generators for backup. There are a lot of things going for a diesel engine generator, lets take a look at some of the advantages of a diesel engine.

A diesel engine has more torque. Torque is what provides the energy to power a generator. For very large backup generators diesel, this can be really important, especially for the generators needed to implement and critical systems, as found in a hospital. If a hospital loses power, generators must be powerful enough to support many different systems to save lives that are being implemented to treat, manage and save hundreds of lives.
A diesel engine has better fuel efficiency. This is easy to think in terms of car they’re talking about miles per gallon. For example, a full size pick up with an average gas engine 12 or 13 MPG. However, a comparable diesel truck easily get 18 MPG +. Now, the backup diesel generators are not really going anywhere, but the example illustrates that the van of the same amount of fuel, the diesel generator will last a longer time period. When power is lost, which often do not know how long they have to rely on the generator before the power returns. The most fuel efficient engine generator, the better.
Diesel backup generators have a life in general over a gas generator. This is because a diesel engine is by design more robust than a gas engine. Other vegetable oils, will also work, although I would not recommend running your diesel and other fuels, unless a true emergency!

Now, one of the main complaints against the diesel is the noise. And despite the backup diesel generators may also be stronger, many of them are the larger units of industrial size. Most of these businesses to maintain such units in a basement or other remote place, where most people do not listen, so this concern does not apply in most cases.

For the needs of larger generator, backup diesel generators must be taken seriously. The engines are more powerful and more fuel-efficient, require less maintenance and last longer than the equivalent gas powered engines.
